KBF Thank you & Project Updates

Just after Memorial Day I received the following note:

“Dear David & KBF Staff,

Thank you for putting us on your list of donors. We are happy to do what we can. We will be praying for Charlotte also. Check enclosed. Love and Prayers.

This note was from an elderly couple who previously received a grant from the Kairos Benevolence Fund.

“I thank my God every time I remember you.”—Philippians 1:3

What a powerful statement about the KBF family. A ministry couple who needed help now turns around and reaches out financially to help a minister’s widow. As the Apostle Paul wrote, “I thank my God every time I remember you” (Philippians 1:3).

Because you also care enough to be a supporter of the Kairos Benevolence Fund, I want to share that we are still about $5,000 short of meeting a need for Charlotte Miller, a minister’s widow. (More information below.)

Here is a brief update on three of our 2018 benevolence grants:

Larry and Teri Lewis

$10,000 was raised by the KBF family to assist missionaries Larry and Teri Lewis, who had struggled with numerous health issues and the death of Teri’s mother. Larry recently wrote, “Thank you again, and if there is any way I can honor those who gave I would love to do that. Please know you are always welcome to visit us here in Berlin, Germany.”

Mike and Heather Miller

$8,000 was raised through the combined efforts of KBF and the Center for Church Leadership. As a result, this young church planting couple was able to pay off the heavy burden of church start-up expenses which had been placed on their personal credit card.

Matt Thompson

Remember our Code Blue minister who had to be resuscitated three times? I’m pleased to report that after months of therapy and rehabilitation, Matt is recovering and gradually resuming his Senior Pastor duties with the church. Thanks to your generosity, $10,000 was raised to meet the $10,000 matching gift offer, so KBF has been working with Matt to assist with medical costs that were not covered by insurance.

Charlotte Miller still needs our help.

After spending a lifetime in service to Christ’s churches here in the United States and around the world, Charlotte’s husband, Fred, passed away earlier this year. Because the Millers served sacrificially, they received very little salary, no health or dental insurance, and had no retirement funds. Following Fred’s death, Charlotte’s children became aware that their mother had very serious dental issues that required immediate surgery.

KBF’s Distribution Team authorized up to $10,000 to restore her teeth and preserve her health. As of this writing, just $5,000 has been donated—so I am praying that you will help KBF as we help Charlotte. We need to raise another $5,000!

This Changes Everything

Finally, KBF is once again sponsoring The Hub at the 2018 North American Christian Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana, June 26 – 28. If you plan to attend, please come by The Hub and give us the chance to thank you in person for your support of KBF.
