Ronnie and Cheryl Hoyer

Cheryl Hoyer married her sweetheart, Ronnie, in 1972. In the 52 years since their marriage, Ronnie and Cheryl have faithfully served Christ’s kingdom in numerous small churches here in the U.S. and overseas as missionaries to unreached people groups.

But today, due to a rare genetic disorder which is untreatable and very progressive, Ronnie is confined to a wheelchair—and Cheryl is his full-time caregiver.

Ronnie graduated from Mid-South Christian College in 1975. He loved preaching for small churches, especially those who couldn’t afford a full-time minister. So, Ronnie often served “bi-vocationally” in order to support his family and preach at the same time. Today, Ronnie can no longer work. Cheryl can only work two hours each day, so they are struggling to live on their Social Security income.

For the last two years, Cheryl has had to physically “muscle” Ronnie out of his wheelchair and into their car every Sunday to attend church … and every time he needed to be taken to a doctor or hospital. Finally, she couldn’t do it any more … Cheryl needed help! She needed a “Mobility Van” with a wheelchair ramp and “lock-down” clamps so she could safely transport Ronnie from place to place.

After months of searching, the right van was found. It’s a 2012 Toyota with just 37,000 miles on the odometer. It’s in great condition. It runs well, and the ramp and lock-down clamps are exactly what was needed.

The challenge, of course, is money. The price of the van was $35,000. Cheryl’s 97 year-old mother gave her $5,000 for the down payment … but now $30,000 is needed to finish the purchase.

I know $30,000 is a BIG “mountain of money,” but I also know that in Matthew 5:7 Jesus said “if we have faith as small as a mustard seed we can move mountains”. I also know that the Apostle Paul wrote to the Philippians in 4:19, “My God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus.”

So, in faith, I’m asking if you will give generously to help meet this NEED facing two of God’s faithful kingdom servants!
