Amy Hill has faithfully served with her husband, Toby, on the mission fields of Honduras and the Dominican Republic for nearly 30 years. He is a graduate of Cincinnati Bible College, and she is a registered nurse. Their passion has been to equip and train young leaders for the future of the church. Together they have trained dozens of ministers, while also providing a medical clinic for local villagers.

Just a few months ago, however, Amy nearly died. She contracted a severe case of double pneumonia, so severe that she was hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a Dominican Republic hospital for a full week. While there, her care was substandard! Her medications were not administered on a regular schedule, her oxygen supply fluctuated dramatically, and—worst of all—some days she received nourishment … some days she did not.

In a recent letter Amy wrote, “My doctors said I should not be alive. I know that without the prayers of the saints, I would have died. The song ‘Goodness of God’ brought me special hope and comfort. At the end, the doctors admitted that it was my faith that allowed me to survive.”

In the Dominican Republic, patients are not discharged from the hospital until their bill is paid in full. Amy’s bill was $12,000. That was money the Hills did not have in their mission account, so they had no choice but to charge the expense on a credit card.

I shared Amy’s story with KBF’s leaders and they quickly agreed that we should raise the money to pay off Amy’s hospital bill and stop the interest expense from growing.

In Acts 2:44-45 we read, “All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need.”

Amy and Toby are in need! So, today I’m asking for your help in raising $12,000. One church has already sent $3,000, so we just need another $9,000 to free Amy and Toby from this medical debt.

Remember, KBF was founded to provide financial assistance to ministers and missionaries who were facing health or financial hardships which they did not have the resources to meet. So, helping Amy and Toby is exactly what KBF was established to do.
