You may very likely know Don and Vikki Hunt. For 49 years they have devoted their lives to music ministry with the Gateway Singers from Centerville, Iowa. Singing, preaching, and leading revivals, the Gateway Singers have ministered to hundreds of congregations throughout 45 states. They have also performed onstage at the North American Christian Convention.
Don and Vikki Hunt are lifetime faithful servants of Christ, and they are in critical need of our financial assistance. I’m writing to ask for your help—right away.
Vikki Hunt was recently injured in a very serious accident. Her car slid sideways into oncoming traffic. The T-bone collision left shattered glass and metal covering the highway—and Vikki pinned helplessly in the wreckage.
First responders worked nearly two hours using the Jaws of Life to extricate Vikki from the twisted remains of her vehicle. Twice her heart stopped beating. Twice her heroic rescuers successfully resuscitated her. Finally free, Vikki was flown by air ambulance to the nearest Level 1 Trauma hospital.
Vikki had cuts, scrapes, and deep bruises all over her body. Her arm was broken. It was feared that a rib had punctured her lung. But most critical were her legs. Skin had been nearly completely peeled off both legs from the knees down, leaving muscle and bone exposed.
For weeks doctors and nurses labored around the clock to attempt to regrow skin and save Vikki’s legs. There were multiple surgeries. She was even placed in a hyperbaric oxygen chamber hoping it would stimulate the growth of healthy skin. Unfortunately, all efforts failed. Both of Vikki’s legs had to be amputated.
Now, due to Vikki’s horrible accident, their work is on hold, and only the Lord knows whether they will ever be able to lead in active ministry again. Consequently, their only source of income is also on hold and just at the time when they will be facing massive medical, therapy, and rehabilitation expenses. Plus, their house will need remodeling to provide Vikki with wheelchair access.
As you know, the Kairos Benevolence Fund (KBF) exists to serve faithful Christian workers in just such crucial times of need. Our 14-member Distribution Team has unanimously approved a grant of up to $20,000 to help Don and Vikki with doctor and hospital bills, therapy and rehabilitation costs, remodeling, and other crisis-related expenses.
A KBF partner church has already agreed to help by offering to match—dollar for dollar—every donation made for the Hunts up to $10,000! This means that for every $1 you can send to KBF, you will be providing $2 of critical assistance to the Hunts.
