Amy Scalf urgently needs your love and generosity this Christmas! Her husband, Dave, passed away unexpectedly; now she is facing Christmas and the New Year alone … as a widow … and a single parent of six children.
Dave and Amy always had a heart for serving God’s people, so after graduating from Seminary, the Elders at Southland Christian Church in Lexington, Kentucky ordained Dave into the Christian ministry. Now, after learning of Dave’s death, Southland has offered a $13,000 “Matching Love Gift” to assist Amy—if we, as KBF’s family of friends and donors, will come together and give another $13,000.
Dave and Amy have been lifetime Kingdom servants. They served the Magnolia Street Christian Church in Harrodsburg, KY; the Paradise Valley Christian Church in Phoenix, AZ; and most recently they planted the Christ Church of Winchester KY.
Dave provided the ministerial leadership, but Amy was always sharing the workload. At times she did administrative work for the church. In addition, she ran a home-school ministry, a MealTrain ministry, and served as a volunteer in the children’s ministry.
Outside the church, Amy works two part-time jobs AND cares for her six children (one of whom requires “special needs” support).
During COVID, Dave became ill and nearly died while on a family trip. He recovered from that incident, but his health was never the same. During these past five years, Dave struggled with a bleeding ulcer, diabetes, and congestive heart failure. Recently, Dave spent three days in the hospital and then was released with a “clean bill of health.” Two days later he passed away while sitting in his recliner chair.
Dave and Amy never served big churches. In fact, Dave never made more than $26,000 per year, so they never had the resources to afford life insurance, health insurance, retirement savings or any other “benefits.”
Today, Amy is in urgent need of financial assistance! Without help, she will not be able to make her house payments and car payments and cover other living expenses in 2026. The bottom line is this … Amy needs your love and generosity this Christmas!
Today we’re asking for your help on behalf of Amy and her children.
