I’m writing to you today on behalf of Jenna Hoagland. Just a few weeks ago, Jenna’s husband, Joe, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. Then, just 21 days later, Jenna gave birth to Toby, their third child. At just 32 years old, Jenna is now a minister’s widow and a single mother of three small children (ages 6, 4, and new-born).
Joe and Jenna were high school sweethearts. They both loved the Lord and wanted to make a life in the ministry. Joe graduated from both Cincinnati Christian University and Central Christian College of the Bible. Together they served several existing churches in Ohio, but most recently were called to be part of a church-planting team for the Lake City Christian Church in Middleburg Heights, OH.
At just 32 years old, with a young family, and serving a new church plant, Joe and Jenna were living paycheck to paycheck.They had health insurance, but no life insurance. Joe was in good health, so his death was unexpected and shocking.
A brief autopsy was conducted, but since Joe was enrolled as an organ donor, his organs were quickly prepared for transplanting. The official cause of death is still not posted, but unofficially the doctors believe it was either a stroke or a heart attack.
When I heard this story my heart ached for Jenna. In just 21 days she went through the “valley of the shadow of death,” and then the mountaintop of joy as she gave birth to her son. What a rollercoaster of emotion!
In talking with Jenna, I learned that she is facing a MOUNTAIN of expenses. Even though Joe is gone, she still has to pay the rent and utilities and car payment for the family. On top of that, Joe’s funeral expenses are due and payable. And, the uninsured portion of his medical bills are just starting to roll in. This could be as much as $30,000 in just the next few months! Jenna and her family need KBF’s help!
As soon as I heard about Jenna’s situation I began contacting friends and area churches. They have responded by providing a “Matching Gift” of $15,000 if the Kairos Benevolence Fund could raise another $15,000 from other friends like you.
The Bible tells us that Jesus loved and wept, then took action and helped. So, today I’m asking for your help. Will you show your compassion for Jenna by making a generous donation?
- If you can give $5,000 – your gift will be doubled and $10,000 be available to help Jenna and her three young children;
- If you can give $1,000 – your gift will be doubled and $2,000 be available to help Jenna and her three young children;
