Marjory Boudreaux

Marjory Boudreaux is a 90-year-old Missionary Widow. Her husband, Sidney, passed away just two months ago, on November 9, 2025. While he was alive, the couple received two small income checks from Social Security. Now, one of those checks has stopped and Marjory doesn’t have enough money to pay her meager bills and buy groceries!

Marjory needs our help today!

Throughout her life, Marjory has been a compassionate and generous Kingdom servant. In 1963, Marjory and Sidney were recruited to serve as missionaries in the Philippine Islands. Together they faithfully served the people of the Philippines for 23 years through the ministry of the Philippine Mission of the Churches of Christ.

When they returned to the US, Marjory began her career as a teacher and professor. She also served for 20 years as the Director of the Joplin NALA Read organization (Neighborhood Adult Literacy Action) a non-profit offering literacy, math, ESL, and digital skills classes and tutoring. And, in addition, she taught third-grade Sunday School classes at College Heights Christian Church until her eyesight (macular degeneration) no longer allowed.

The Boudreauxs were known for their remarkable compassion and private generosity to others. Over the years (for individuals who were NOT family members) they paid college tuition, covered rent, helped with medications, and supported one individual all the way through medical school.

One day Marjory learned of a woman who had been severely burned and could only sleep sitting upright during recovery. Without hesitation, Marjory gave the woman her brand new recliner. No questions. No expectation of return. To the Boudreauxs, possessions and resources were meant to be shared when they could ease someone else’s burden.

On another occasion, Marjory went to court and stood before a judge to vouch for a 14-year-old boy on her grandson’s football team who lived in an unsafe home environment. She told the judge that the money she and Sid had saved for a vacation would be better used to invest in a life. They paid the fine for the boy, provided home stability, and from that day forward the young man became like one of their own grandchildren.

The stories of Marjory and Sid’s compassion and generosity could go on and on. Unfortunately, in that process they gave away almost everything they had. Listen to what their daughter Carolyn told me about her parents.

“I’ve only scratched the surface of the ways my parents have served others. Their lives reflect that real change happens when people invest consistently, quietly, and relationally. Their legacy isn’t measured in recognition, but in lives strengthened, dignity preserved, and hope sustained, often without anyone ever knowing the source.”

As soon as I learned about Marjory’s situation, I reached out to KBF’s leadership team. They unanimously approved KBF launching a project to raise $10,000 to help pay for Sid’s cremation and funeral expenses, doctor’s bills, hospital bills, and medications. In addition, if we can raise the full $10,000, KBF can help cover Marjory’s living expenses for the rest of the year.

So, today we’re asking you to give generously to help this widow in distress!

Remember what Scripture says in James 1:27, “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress.”

  • If God has blessed you with the ability, will you give $10,000 today?
  • Or maybe you can give $5,000, or $1,000, or $500 or $100.
