After more than 50 years of serving as a Minister to Christ’s Church and His people, 83-year-old Paul Leavens needs your help!
Last year Paul contracted pneumonia—not once, but twice! At one point, he was so weak that he couldn’t sit up or feed himself. He spent more than three months in a rehabilitation facility. Now, Paul has scar tissue on his lungs, pulmonary fibrosis, Diabetes, and other conditions that require in-home health care for 20 hours a week.
Paul’s medical expenses are staggering! His Insulin costs him more than $2,000 per year, and his in-home health care costs another $20,000 … both of which are not covered by insurance and have to be paid out of his pocket!
And, like so many of our older ministers and missionaries, Paul and his wife Luana have served sacrificially over the years, so they don’t have the resources to cover those expenses.
Today, Paul is not physically able to continue preaching or fulfilling the demands of ministry. Luana works part-time at a local school, but most of her time is spent caring for Paul. While her income and a modest stipend from Lindsay Christian Church are helpful to their day-to-day living expenses, Paul and Luana are greatly in need of additional assistance to cover his increasing medical costs—for in-home care, medication, and to eliminate the medical debt they owe from his pneumonia treatment in 2024.
When we learned of Paul and Luana’s needs, and shared them with KBF’s Leadership Team, they immediately authorized us to launch a campaign to raise $25,000.
We also reached out to two of KBF’s ministry partner organizations and each agreed to send $5,000 on behalf of Paul and Luana. Thanks to them, we have already raised $10,000 out of our $25,000 goal!
