In 1994, at the tender age of 50, Sharon Cunningham felt God calling her to the mission field. She left her home in the United States and became a missionary with the Kulpahar Kids Home and Christian School; a ministry founded by Leah Moshier and Dolly Chitwood.
Today, at the age of 81, she is still living at Kulpahar and serving the children of India.
Three years ago, Sharon was diagnosed with Cellulitis in her left ankle and foot. The infection became so severe that her ankle bone separated from the joint. Over the next 18 months she underwent three surgeries and was hospitalized for weeks at a time. Her treatments involved blood therapy, transfusions, debridements (surgically removing dead tissue), skin grafts, and multiple transfusions.
Because Sharon is not a citizen of India, the hospital, doctors, pharmacies and caregivers all required payment BEFORE they would treat her!
This financial burden wiped out all of Sharon’s savings and required her to charge her credit cards up to their limits. On Sharon’s meager missionary income, it would have taken 16 YEARS to pay off her medical debt.
As soon as we learned about this need, the KBF Board approved a campaign with the goal of raising $25,000 in order to pay off Sharon’s medical debt and stop her credit cards from accruing interest (at a rate of more than 20 percent per year).
This was an URGENT situation!
When Sharon learned that KBF would help, she wrote this note to the KBF Ministry Family:
Thank you from the bottom of my heart! Saying “Thank you” isn’t enough but at this point it’s all I can do from Kulpahar India!
What a blessing the KAIROS MINISTRY is to so many around the world.
“Angels of Blessing” – WOW and WOW!
