Just a few weeks into our $61,000 campaign, we have already raised $12,000!
Thank you to all who have given to meet the needs of FIVE appeals for emergency assistance.
Also, I promised you an update on the details of those appeals, and I am excited to share with you today that the KBF team has approved $6,080.00 for dental and periodontal work for an 82-year-old minister’s wife, Shelva Miller. Praise the Lord!
Shelva and her husband, David, (pictured above) have served in ministry since 1955—that’s 63 years! In partnership with Go Ye Chapel Mission, they planted three churches in New York; they served for 14 years as Camp Managers at Catskill Christian Assembly; and at the same time, David preached at the Christian Church in Westkill, New York. Then, just one year ago, they retired from a 22-year ministry with the Bergholz Church of Christ in Ohio.
At age 50, Shelva determined to fulfill the lifelong dream of becoming a Registered Nurse. She enrolled in nursing school, received an Associate’s Degree in Science and soon thereafter her RN. She worked as an RN from 1991 until her retirement in 2001.
Unfortunately, as is so often the case in ministry, Shelva and David worked sacrificially for low wages and little benefits. Today their meager social security income barely covers living expenses, so they have nothing to pay for Shelva’s dental needs.
Thanks to your generosity, KBF was able to say YES when Shelva and David asked for help.
Even with this wonderful early fundraising success, we still have four compelling requests pending approval by the KBF Distribution Team, and we still must raise the remaining funds to meet these needs.
- $15,000 is still needed so a minister can pay for medical care for his young daughter and remain in ministry.
- $8,000 is still needed for a missionary couple—after losing their 10-day-old baby last year, they fell behind and now struggle with taxes, interest, and penalties.
- $6,206.09 is still needed to assist a missionary couple (both of whom are battling cancer) with taxes, insurance, and living expenses as they undergo treatment.
- $25,411.31 is still needed to help a missionary who faces a life-threatening illness requiring hospitalization and surgeries.
As I shared with you previously, KBF has never received this many requests for assistance all at one time, and we have never needed to raise this much money all at one time. But with God’s blessing and your generosity, after just three weeks we are already 20% of the way to complete success.
We will continue to work hard to get all of these requests approved—and we need your help to raise the donations necessary to meet these opportunities. Let me remind you, all donations to this $61,000 campaign, up to the approved need, will go directly to help the grantees. Any additional funds raised will be available to help meet future needs.
KBF is still in need of several $10,000 donations. If you have been blessed financially and could make this size gift—will you please do it? We will also need gifts of $5,000 and $2,000 and $1,000 and $500 and $100.
Please give as generously as you can.
