6 Updates on Lives Impacted by Your KBF Donations

A few days after Christmas I received the most poignant card of the season. An elderly minister’s wife wrote:

“Enclosed is our contribution of thanksgiving in the amount of $40. Through the gentle and caring spirit of your representative, the payment of our medical bills was satisfied by KBF. We shall be forever grateful and hope that this small donation can be used to assist in helping another one of God’s servants who find themselves in a dire situation beyond their control. Our God is an Awesome God!”

“We shall be forever grateful and hope that this small donation can be used to assist in helping another one of God’s servants who find themselves in a dire situation beyond their control.”

Her words are more powerful than mine in saying THANK YOU to you and all the supporters of the Kairos Benevolence Fund. Your compassion and generosity enables KBF to make a difference in the lives of ministers and missionaries in need. Just last year, KBF received more than $300,000 in donations, allowing us to provide financial assistance to more Kingdom workers than ever before.

Because you cared enough to give, let me share some updates with you.

Don & Vikki Hunt

Just last weekend, after 91 days in the hospital, Vikki was able to go home for the first time since her devastating auto accident last October. Vikki was on life support for more than a week. Both of her legs were crushed and required amputation. KBF’s goal of raising $20,000 for the Hunts has been met, so remodeling of their home for wheel-chair accessibility will begin soon.

Bob & Etta Kastens

You may remember last fall when Etta Kastens, wife of lifelong minister Robert Kastens, was gravely ill and they faced medical bills greater than they could repay. Today, Etta continues her recovery, and because of your donations, $8,000 of her doctor and hospital bills were eliminated.

Bob & Dawn Baird

Bob Baird (25-year missionary to Zaire/Congo) was stricken with a neurological disorder called Meige Syndrome. Your gifts to KBF paid for the Baird’s cross-country trip to Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota, plus a sizable portion of Bob’s final hospital costs. Additionally, Dawn set up a book-signing station in the KBF exhibit at ICOM which enabled her to connect with many long-time supporters, and generate additional income to help with their family expenses.

A recent note from Dawn said, “From the Baird family, we say a huge ‘Thank you!’ for all you have done for us. Just as precious is the way this trial has brought the beginning of new friendships. And thanks, too, for the ongoing prayers!”

Julie Higginson

In July 2017, Jeff Higginson—a graduate of Lincoln Christian University, a youth minister, a worship minister, and chaplain at Inner City Mission, Springfield, Illinois—passed away. KBF was able to step in and pay off the house mortgage for his disabled wife, Julie, repair floors in the house, replace storm windows, and cover a number of utility bills. (To grasp the full power of your support, please click here to read Julie’s personal letter.)

Gail Hamilton

Just over a year ago, Gail was diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer. She, along with her minister husband, Don, and their five children have been in the fight of their lives ever since. Gail and Don have chosen to chronicle their faith journey with blog posts which you will be blessed to read. (www.lovegail.com). KBF has raised $20,000 on behalf of Gail and is still today continuing to pay doctor, hospital, prescription, and other medical expenses—all because you have cared enough to give!

Dave Butts

Last year Dave Butts (President of Harvest Prayer Ministries and 2014 President of ICOM) was diagnosed with stage IV mantle cell Lymphoma. He recently told us that after a year of prayer, healing, hospitals, and intimacy with the Lord, his cancer is in remission. Praise the Lord! Your generosity enabled KBF to pay $20,000 of Dave’s hospital bills.

The need continues in 2018

Already in the first three weeks of this new year, KBF has received new applications for assistance. With God’s blessing and your continued financial support, KBF will continue its vital ministry of providing emergency financial support to our ministers and missionaries in need.

THANK YOU for your support in 2017!
